Several People Injured When Vehicle Crashes Into Chelsea Deli

At least six people were injured when a taxi t-boned another vehicle and crashed through the front of a Chelsea deli on Sunday, May 10. The cab was traveling north on Eighth Ave. when it t-boned a silver Hyundai, sending it into the West 21 Deli and Grocery. A woman was pinned between the vehicle and the outside of the building during the accident. All six victims were brought to Bellevue Hospital, three of them listed in serious condition.

Security Guard Fatally Crushed At Midtown Construction Site

A security guard was killed and a construction worker injured when a large glass panel fell at the construction site for a Manhattan skyscraper on Saturday, May 26. The NYC Department of Buildings issued a stop work order and a violation for failing to safeguard the site following the accident, which happened at around 10:30 a.m at West 57th Street, near Carnegie Hall.

The 8-foot-by-14-foot glass panel tipped over while it was being moved, killing the 67-year-old security guard and hospitalizing a 27-year-old construction worker with non-life-threatening injuries.

34 People Injured In Lincoln Tunnel Bus Accident

34 people were injured, 8 seriously, when two buses collided in the Lincoln Tunnel on Monday, May 18. One NJ TRANSIT bus from Oradell rear-ended another out of Wayne, NJ at around 10:10 a.m. Out of the 37 passengers on the Oradell bus, 32 were injured, with 8 serious injuries. 25 people were on board the Wayne bus, but only two people suffered minor injuries. Many of the injured victims were brought to Mount Sinai West hospital for treatment.

4 People Injured When Car Crashes Into Brooklyn Coffee Shop

Four people were injured after a Dodge Challenger crashed into a Brooklyn coffee shop on Thursday, May 31. The Challenger was side-swiped by another vehicle being driven by an off-duty NYPD cadet. Upon impact, the Challenger crashed through the front of the Civil Service Cafe at the corner of Nostrand Avenue and Clifton Place in Bed-Stuy. The 23-year-old NYPD cadet was later arrested on three counts of leaving the scene of an accident and one count of an illegal signal.

A 32-year-old woman suffered a collapsed lung and broken leg in the accident and was brought to New York-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital in critical condition. Two men were also brought to that hospital for treatment – one with neck and back injuries and another with arm pain. The driver of the Dodge Challenger was brought to The Brooklyn Hospital Center: Downtown Campus with an arm injury.
