Elderly Woman Killed, Husband Critically Injured After Being Struck By Vehicle In Brooklyn

An 85-year-old woman was killed and her 90-year-old husband was critically injured after being struck by an SUV at a Brooklyn car wash on Tuesday, May 1.

The accident occurred at around 3 p.m. at Avenue U and Gerritsen Avenue in the Gerritsen Beach section of the borough.

The two elderly victims were examining the rear of their vehicle after being rear-ended by a black Jeep Liberty that was exiting the car wash. A car wash employee entered the vehicle, reversed and crashed into the building, before accelerating forward and striking the two pedestrians.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene and her husband was brought to Lutheran Medical Center in critical condition.

Drunk Driver Causes 3-Car Accident In Brooklyn, Injuring 8

A drunk driver sparked a three-car accident in Brooklyn on Friday, April 13 – leaving eight people hospitalized. Two of those injured were listed in critical condition.

The crash happened at around 8:40 p.m. on Flatbush Ave near Farragut Road when the driver of a silver Mercedes was speeding and crashed into the back of a 2015 BMW. The Mercedes driver lost control as the vehicle crashed into four men waiting at the crosswalk, before finally stopping on the sidewalk. The BMW also spun out of control and struck a Honda nearby.

Drunk Driver Crashes Into Westchester Restaurant, 9 Diners Injured

A 79-year-old woman was charged with driving while intoxicated after crashing her vehicle into a popular Westchester restaurant and injuring nine customers in the process. Four of those victims suffered serious injuries.

The incident happened on Sunday, May 6 at around 7:45 p.m. when the Yonkers woman crashed her vehicle through the front of Enzo’s Ristorante on Mamaroneck Avenue.

The investigation of this accident is ongoing.

Elderly Man Killed After Being Struck By Garbage Truck In The Bronx

An elderly Bronx man was killed after being run over by a garbage truck on Friday, April 27. Recently, it was discovered that the same trashman driving the vehicle that night had killed another person less than six months ago.

Neighbors of the victim are outraged that the driver was allowed to continue driving even after the first fatal accident.

No criminal charges have been filed.
